The Desktop Monitor market in EMEA was up in Q4 by 2.6% compared to the last quarter of 2016. The market was also up in value as ASPs have been maintained. Bob Raikes, principal of Meko, said
“The market was hit in 2015 with the problems after Russian actions in the Crimea and the Ukraine, but the region has gradually recovered, although still not to where it was. In Q4, the improvement in Russia was amplified by a good quarter in Germany and some recovery in Turkey. Developments in MEA remain disappointing”.
The market is dominated by 21.5″ and 24″ class displays as smaller sizes continue to decline in share. In Germany, in particular, 16 x 10 1920 x 1200 24″ monitors remain a significant segment.
In recent years, the major PC vendors have increasingly taken share from the Korean vendors and Dell remained in top position in Q4 2017, although HP is getting closer.Dell was also top brand for the whole of 2017.
