ZTE has launched an unusual device, the Axon M which has dual 5.2″ IPS LCDs, each with FullHD, making an overall 6.9″ 1920 x 2160 resolution display. The screens are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and the camera is 12.2mm thick. The processor is a Snapdragon 821 (quad core) and with an Adreno 530 GPU. Memory is 4GB and storage is 64GB with expansion via MicroSD. The main camera is a 20MP unit, with no secondary camera. Connection is via USB Type-C and the battery is 3180mHh. The price is expected to be about $730.
Analyst Comment
This kind of product has been developed before – Sony had something like it a few years ago (the Tablet P in 2011 – Display Monitor Vol 18 Issue 36), but couldn’t get good software support for the dual screen function and the design didn’t go to a second generation. Apparently, Kyocera had one as well, I still think that the real development of foldable displays will be when there is a single display image. (BR)
