The OLED Association has published reports suggesting that the GearVR may have a very high definition display in the headset – perhaps as much as 2,000ppi. It is also said to be working on a 1,000ppi version. Samsung supplies Oculus at the moment and the Association expects that Samsung might supply the high resolution version to Oculus as well.
Analyst Comment
As we have said before, driving such a high resolution display at the high refresh rates to avoid artefacts is a real processing challenge, especially if you want to do it without a big PC-scale GPU. A solution needs a complete system to work properly (BR)
