OLEDNet reports that at the UBI Research 3rd OLED Korea Conference, Li Lin, a researcher from Chinese OLED specialist, Visionox, explained the development of a 7″ foldable display that was developed in November 2016. The display uses strong OCA and durable, scratch-resistant cover film, a thinner circular polariser layer and an integrated touch panel.
Lin said that the real issue for adoption is the development of high yield manufacturing to get costs down. He also said that reducing the thickness of the layers is key, especially the polariser layer. He also said that there is no obvious material for the touch electrodes, although metal mesh ‘seems to be a good alternative’.
