Witsview reports that 57.15 million LCD TVs were shipped in Q3, an increase of 14.4% on Q2, and 5.8% up on Q3 last year. Samsung was the main vendor with 11.3 million (19.7% share). The firm said that demand in China was strong, boosted by a strong housing market. However, it said that set makers saw margins drop because of panel pricing.
TCL moved up from fifth place last time seeing 42.3% quarterly growth with a boost in OEM and TCL brand shipments. Hisense also had good growth, but it dropped back from third last time. Witsview estimates that shipments will reach 64.3 million units in Q4, although there is some risk that rising prices, forced by panel price rises might cause some resistance.
