Snapchat, the image messaging and multimedia mobile application has changed its name into Snap Inc. and is preparing to offer its first hardware product. With its short lived image and video clips, Snapchat has become the visual messaging system that attracts a large portion of the younger generation.

The announced hardware solution has nothing to do with augmented reality as some had speculated, instead they are video glasses called Spectacles that allow the user to take up to a 10 sec video clip triggered by a touch controller. The video can then be uploaded by WiFi or Bluetooth via the user’s smartphone. There is no word as of yet what the glasses will cost or when they will be available. – NH
