At the Paris motor show, Lexus showed a concept car that had a novel interface. The driver’s instrument binnacle houses a transparent globe, floating like a hologram, Lexus said, in which a combination of analogue and digital information to deliver a “functional yet unexpected” user interface. The centre console featured a prominent, facetted crystal structure within which a hologram-style display of air conditioning and infotainment system is clearly visible to both driver and front passenger.
Other features included electro-chromatic windows, and the side-view mirrors are replaced by e-mirror camera housings far slimmer than conventional mirror housing. All switchgear is touch-enable and housed under transparent covers.
