Google is said to be preparing to announce new hardware updates on October 4th. The company plans to present two smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, a 4K Chromecast and more details on the Google Home platform, as well as a design for a DaydreamVR viewing device (provisionally named Daydream View).
While details have not been released, it is understood that the 4K Chromecast (to be called either Chromecast Plus or Chromecast Ultra) will offer 4K UHD entertainment streaming. This was originally planned for 2015 but then delayed, possibly waiting for more content to be available.
The two Pixel phones are believed to be the models previously known as Sailfish (5″) and Marlin (5.5″). These were expected to be in the Nexus series but are now being branded as Pixel.

Google has recently released a note on its blog that the GoogleCast technology has now been integrated into Chrome. Websites can use the technology to add a link to make casting easy, or users can select a new “Cast” item on the Chrome menu.
