Irdeto, a digital platform security specialist and analyst firm SNL Kagan have released a report covering global UltraHD video. The report (‘A Clearer Picture of Growth: 2016 Global 4K UHD Industry Survey’) finds that 64% of video service providers and 73% of content producers believe that consumers would pay 10-30% more to receive UHD content. 96% of providers and content producers expect consumers and operators to adopt UHD TV by 2020. 88% of the ~500 respondents will launch UHD content by 2020; 78% will have launched content by 2018. 57% of respondents agree that retaining home platform ownership is a great business driver for UHD. With regards to devices that will drive UHD, 70% of the respondents say that 4k and connected TVs will be the primary devices. 61% of the respondents said that bandwidth would have a high impact.
