German commercial broadcasters’ association VPRT has projected that pay-TV and VoD revenues in Europe’s German-speaking countries will pass €3 billion this year. VPRT predicts that revenues will grow by between 8% and 11% this year, to reach €2.8 billion in Germany and €3 billion across the German-speaking countries. Pay-TV subscriptions increased to reach 7.4 million in Germany, equivalent to 6% YoY growth. A further 8.2 million subscribers were recorded in the German-speaking area. According to VPRT, pay-TV subscribers could reach 7.8 million in Germany and 8.7 million across the German-speaking area by the end of 2016.
