French TV software provider iWedia has made its Linux-based Teatro-3.0 STB software solution available on the latest range of system-on-a-chip connected set-top platforms from HiSilicon Technologies.
Both HiSilicon and iWedia are exhibiting at TV Connect, where the integrated solution will be demonstrated.
The Hi3798/Hi3796 series of chipsets includes the Hi3798M V100, Hi3796M V100, and Hi3798C V200 models and provides platforms for entry-level through to high-end UHD HEVC set-tops. It features a security engine integrating a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), a Secure Video-Path (SVP), and forensic watermarking technologies.
Teatro-3.0 is a software solution for hybrid DVB and IP set-tops based on Linux with an customisable user interface developed using standard Web technologies such as HTML, CSS, DOM and JavaScript. The solution features DLNA, access to “walled garden” web and OTT video services based on CE-HTML portals and HbbTV applications, as well as Personal Video Recorder and Time Shift Buffer.
Teatro-3.0 is pre-integrated with Nagra and Conax Conditional Access Systems.
“With Teatro-3.0 Pay TV broadcast operators can bring their OTT video services on the main screen along with their legacy broadcast services. All delivered with a customized and branded UI designed using basic Web technologies,“ said Sunghoon Kim, VP Sales at iWedia. “The latest family of SoC for connected FHD/UHD HEVC STB from HiSilicon was a perfect target for this solution and we are very pleased to have achieved this porting”.
Liu Zhiyang, General Manager of STB Chipsets at HiSilicon, said: “With the availability of Teatro-3.0 on our Hi3798/Hi3796 series of chipsets and in leveraging iWedia’s integration services capabilities we help our STB OEM customers to bring a better Time-To-Market to the Pay TV operators they target with connected STB.”
Separately, set-top maker Digital Multimedia Technology and IWedia have announced the availability of a common offering for UHD IPTV/OTT hybrid STB running Android TV.
The offer is made of iWedia’s Teatro-3.5 STB software solution for Android TV running on DMT’s UHD IPTV/OTT set-top.
The box is based on the Broadcom BCM7252S STB system-on-chip and is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of Flash. It supports HDMI 2.0, RCA, S/PDIF, USB (x2), Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connectivity. A DVB attachment (S2/C/T2) is proposed as an option.
