Quantum Dot Innovator Secures Major Investment

Belgium-based quantum dot innovator QustomDot has successfully raised €2.7 million ($2.9 million) in a recent funding round, complemented by a €2.5 million ($2.7 million) grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program. The funding round was supported by key investors, including PMV, QBIC, Vigo Ventures, and new backers Noshaq and the EIC Fund.

Founded in 2020 as a spin-off from Ghent University, QustomDot specializes in cadmium-free quantum dot technology. The company develops quantum dot-based inks and resins for advanced display applications, particularly in the emerging MicroLED market, which is projected to reach $27 billion by 2027. By using indium phosphide (InP) materials, QustomDot aligns with the European Union’s RoHS directive on hazardous substances, offering environmentally sustainable alternatives to cadmium-based technologies.

The funds will enable QustomDot to advance its inkjet technology, strengthen collaborations with global manufacturers, and accelerate the commercialization of their next-generation quantum dot solutions. CEO Kim De Nolf stated, “This financing validates the significant progress we’ve made and will help us accelerate commercialization of our cutting-edge ink solutions.”
