Device Eng Wins BOE Display Manufacturing Equipment Contract

South Korean equipment manufacturer, Device Eng, has won a supply contract for display manufacturing equipment for BOE. The contract is worth 685.8 billion won ($510 million), about 120% of Device Eng’s recent sales pipeline.

The equipment is slated for China’s first and one of the world’s earliest high-generation AMOLED production lines, according to Device Eng. The Gen8.6 AMOLED production line will have a capacity to produce 32,000 glass substrates (2290mm x 2620mm) per month. They will be used primarily to manufacture high-end OLED touchscreens for devices like laptops and tablets. The structure is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The production line is scheduled to firef up for the first time in May 2026 and to begin mass production by October 2026, with full capacity expected by 2029. BOE is investing close to $9 billion in this project.
