NEC will show a new encoder and decoder pair at NAB 2016, which are able to process Super-Hi Vision (8k) video at 60 fps. They were developed with NHK of Japan.
The VC-8350 encoder and VD-8350 decoder have been designed to support future 8k broadcasting services. They use HEVC and support the MPEG Media Transport transmission standard. In addition, they can realise synchronous transmission in hybrid (broadcast and broadband) CDNs on the reception side.
