Chinese company Dasung has put the world’s first PC monitor based on an E-Ink color display, called the Paperlike Color, on Indiegogo. The 25.3-inch monitor uses a Kaleido-3 panel with 16 grayscale and 4,096 colors, which was previously only available in sizes ranging from 7.8 to 13.3 inches and also in 42 inches for outdoor screens.
The E-Ink screen of the Paperlike Color has a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels and a pixel density of 145 ppi. It features a front light, an extremely fast response time, and wireless display functionality, similar to the Dasung’s original 25.3-inch black and white E-Ink monitor. That monitor was also touted on Indiegogo prior to launch. This monitor can be used in either portrait or landscape mode and comes with DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB-C ports.
The device’s price has not been confirmed yet, but the monochrome version of the monitor currently sells for around $2,000.
