Samsung is launching a gaming-focused online store called Samsung Game Portal. The store will initially be accessible in seven countries: the U.S., the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Brazil, before expanding to over 30 countries. The aim is to provide a hub for gamers to conveniently access and purchase gaming-related products like smartphones, TVs, gaming monitors, and high-performance SSDs.
This move comes in response to the increasing number of cross-platform gamers (those who use multiple devices for gaming). A 2021 study by Accenture showed that these gamers spend significant time on gaming and related activities each week.
The Game Portal will offer a wide range of content including product information, reviews from experts, special purchase benefits and offers, ideas for utilizing products for gaming, and gaming-related news.
Products that will be featured on the portal include the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Neo QLED TV, and the Odyssey OLED G9 which is a large curved screen monitor specifically targeted at gamers. The 990 PRO SSD, a storage product targeted at gamers, will also be available.
Samsung is promoting the launch with discounts on bundled gaming devices and regional purchasing incentives mainly centered on the recently launched Odyssey gaming monitor and Neo QLED 8K products.
