LGD Confirms Plans for Large OLED Factory

LG Display has finalised plans to build a new OLED fab of ‘9th generation or above’ size in Paju, South Korea (LG Display Plans OLED Investment).

The P10 factory will be used to produce all types of displays, including flexible and transparent units.

Production at the P10 plant, which will cover 382m x 265m, is scheduled to begin production in the first half of 2018. Main output will be both large-sized OLED TV panels and flexible OLED panels for smartwatches and automotive displays.

LG Display will invest KRW1.84 trillion ($1.6 billion) in the construction of the fab building, but total investment is expected to exceed KRW10 trillion ($8.7 billion).

According to LGD, the fab building is expected to produce OLEDs ‘in every product segment’, both existing types and future transparent and flexible units.
