The company is supposed to be delivering an announcement shortly on the Bravia models for 2023 but a YouTube video, subsequently taken down, provided an early leak of information.
At CES 2023, Sony was more interested in its PVR2 launch in 2023 then its television lines. However, there are scattered reports online of a possible leak of information to presage on upcoming release of information on the actual Bravia lineup for 2023. The offending leak is captured in the image below, adding to its possible accuracy is that it has been taken down. From a cursory and very random translation of the text, it looks like spring and summer release dates for a number of LCD TVs, and a lot of unknowns around the miniLED products. By the way, the PVR2 is available for pre-order on the PlayStation website and expected to ship before the end of February.
The short analysis on all this speculation, about as much as it deserves, is that Sony’s going to be pushing out a range of value LCD Bravia models, keeping its powder dry on QD-OLED and miniLED to wait out lagging consumer demand. It’s just another sign of price pressures on TV vendors, and I don’t expect any of that to go away this year. Black Friday sales in 2023 will be lit, y’all.
