ISE 2023 Breaks Attendance Records

Like we said, trade shows are back. ISE 2023 had 58,107 attendees, a jump of 33% over 2022’s audience of 43,691. It had a visit from a king and a mayor (Felipe VI of Spain and Ad Colau, respectively). It was also interesting for having as its keynote speaker, BK Johannessen of Epic Games. Johannessen was there to talk up Unreal Engine, and how virtual production is going to upend the AV industry. Apart from the fact that it has an impact on how the industry evolves over the course of the rest of this decade, but it also validates why Jon Peddie Research acquired Display Daily last year, marrying the display coverage with graphics processing and digital content creation. It was interesting to see ISE 2023 lead with this keynote.

The exploitation of higher resolution displays, and the rich graphics that you can see on them, really needs applications that exploit the opportunity. High-end graphics technology like Unreal Engine are going to ask more from the viewing experience and users will respond because of the genuinely higher standards of user experience. Whether it is digital signage, computer displays, user interfaces, gaming, or virtual sets for broadcasting, the language of 3D graphics is part of the modern vernacular of any monitor or display. It has to be.

Oh, here’s something to counter the headline, in the interest of balance:
