Posiflex Expands Android POS Solutions

Posiflex is a vendor of POS solutions, and is due to launch two new Android-based models in Q3. These terminals are designed to meet retail and hospitality demands for lower-cost products, with a wide feature-set.

The Mobile POS MT-4008A is the first product, running Android 4.4. It is similar to the Windows-based MT-4008W, but lacks a widescreen display. A hybrid device, the unit is built around an 8″ tablet with a pistol grip and hand strap.

The grip incorporates a 1D or 2D barcode scanner and can support magnetic stripe reader or 3G attachments. A removable 5,000mAh battery is also built in. Users can mount the device in an optional dock; this adds a Wi-Fi thermal printer, USB and RJ45 ports.

Resolution of the 8″ display is 1280 x 800, and the OS runs on a quad-core ARM-based CPU from Allwinner. The product features 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

Posiflex has also updated its XT-2614E, in the form of the new XT-2614Q. This device, based on Android 4.4, is a fixed terminal with a foldable base. It features a fanless design and supports various Posiflex peripherals, such as a printer, line display or magnetic stripe reader.

Resolution of the product’s 14″ display is 1366 x 768, with procap touch. A quad-core 1GHz Allwinner CPU (ARM-based) is built in, with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a micro-SD slot. VGA, USB (x3), RJ45 and serial (x2) ports are built in.

As the products are not set to be launched until Q3, prices have not been shared yet.
