AU Optronics (AUO) had a disappointing start to the second quarter, reporting declines in both sales and shipments in April. Revenue for the month was down 12.2% sequentially and 7.3% year on year at NT$30.5 billion ($990.6 million), bringing sales so far this year to NT$125.8 billion ($4.1 billion), 0.7% lower than the same period of 2014.
AUO shipped around 8.2 million large panels in April, down 10.2% from March and bringing the total so far this year to 35 million. Small and medium-sized panel shipments reached approximately 15 million, a month on month decrease of 4.5% and taking the total in the first four months of the year to 57.7 million units.
