Last year, HTC offered a lower-priced version of the One M8 smartphone called the One E8; it sacrificed the metal body for plastic, as well as losing the duo camera.
The HTC One E9, spotted at China’s TENAA certification centre, was originally thought to be the 2015 variant – but closer examination reveals some key differences between it and the One M9.
Unlike the One M9’s 5″ screen, the One E9 will have a larger 5.5″ display and higher resolution: 2560 x 1440, rather than 1920 x 1080. We have also heard that the phone will scrap the Snapdragon 810 processor in favour of a 2GHz 64-bit octa-core chip from MediaTek.
China’s Upleaks reports that there will be two versions of the One E9: one will have a 13MP front camera and another will use the same 4MP ‘UltraPixel’ device as the One M9.
As the device has not been confirmed by HTC yet – although a mid-March announcement was teased – no price or release details are available yet.
