The old seven-bar clock at the Kennedy Space Centre’s Press Site is arguably a part of history, used in many Apollo launches. Last December, the clock became history, as it was too old to continue to repair. NASA has now replaced it with ‘a new clock for a new generation’: an LED board with the same dimensions as the old unit (about 7.9m [26′] x 2.1m [7′]) and 1280 x 360 resolution, at a cost of $280,000.
