Having introduced a 24/7 signage range (TD-Z) at ISE this year (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 7), Toshiba showed a 16/7 range (TD-E) at Technology Exposed in September (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 38). These units are now on the market in 40″ and 50″ sizes, with 32″ and 65″ models to come in Q1’15.
Consisting of the TD-E401 and TD-E501, the new displays are a lower-cost option compared to the TD-Z models. They can be used in portrait or landscape modes and feature an OPS slot, to accommodate an external PC or media player. An anti-glare coating is built into the screen.
Resolution is 1920 x 1080 on both new products, with 178 deg viewing angles. They have 450 cd/m² (40″) and 500 cd/m² (50″) of brightness, with 8.5mm/12.5mm (top and sides/bottom) bezels on the 40″ and 12mm/15mm on the 50″.
Unlike the TD-Z units, the TD-E displays do not feature DVI connectivity. They have HDMI, VGA and RS232 ports.
Available now, the TD-E401 costs £415 ($650) and the TD-E501 costs £500 ($785) ex VAT
