We didn’t spot it at the time, but it looked as though readers might still be interested in a project being undertaken by the National Cancer Center Hospital in Japan to use 8K displays in endoscopic surgery and in remote medical diagnosis. The high resolution can improve surgical outcomes by expanding the field of vision in procedures and allowing the use of better cameras. The project is being supported by NHK and Olympus, which is developing the 8K laparoscopic systems and NTT Data Management Consulting.
The NCC put out a release with more information on the medical issues and the project processes.
