iTunes Rolling Out UHD and HDR Content

Following the official announcement of a new Apple TV capable of outputing Ultra HD resolution, Apple has begun to add UHD content to the iTunes Store. (Apple Updates TV Box with UHD & HDR)

Apple TV 4K was announced at the company’s live launch event earlier this week.

It would appear that Apple was successful in its price negotiations with most of the Hollywood studios – except Disney – as the iTunes Store is offering UHD content at no extra cost over Full HD. Not only that, but current owners of 1080p content will receive a free and automatic upgrade to its Ultra HD equivalent where available.

Aside from the obvious resolution boost, the new content also comes in either HDR10 or Dolby Vision HDR, depending on the studio’s preference.

Apple TV 4K is available for pre-order now at $179, ahead of its release on September 22nd.
