4 of 5 chip experts say Korea faces ‘worst crisis’ in decade

Although Samsung Display is doing well with its OLED sales to Apple (Samsung set for record Q3 profit on iPhone 14 series shipments), the same is not true of other Korean technology companies. The Korea Herald quoted 24 out of 30 chip specialists as believing that the chip industry in the country is facing the worst crisis in a decade.

The warning comes as mobile tech giant Apple approved China-based Yangtze Memory Technologies as a vendor of third-dimensional NAND flash memory chips on the iPhone 14. The experts believe that Chinese suppliers will have a big effect for at least two years.
