3D TV: Not All That New

The first 3D TV broadcast in the USA was aired 62 years ago, on 29th April, 1953, by ABC. The operator was granted permission by the FCC and undertook the work with its affiliate station KECA-TV. The experiment was used to show a sci-fi series called Space Patrol, at the National Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters’ 31st annual show in Los Angeles. Unfortunately 3D glasses were not widespread at the time, and the programme appeared as a blur to most viewers!
