Rumours have surfaced regarding an updated version of Xiaomi’s Android-based Mi Box media player, following the roll-out of Android Oreo to its current iteration. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US has apparently given the go-ahead for the new device.
Aside from a newly designed Bluetooth voice remote — which features a Netflix button — it’s not immediately obvious how this new box will improve upon its predecessor, which already supports Ultra HD and HDR content.
The Oreo update brings a raft of new features, including “Channels”, which enables users to view content previews from supported apps via the device’s home screen.
