Wistron Agrees JV With Optiemus

Wistron has signed a letter of intent with Optiemus Infracom, a telecom distributor in India, to establish a joint venture in which Wistron will hold a 20% stake. The JV, to be set up in Noida, India, will focus on smart telecommunication device production. The line will begin pilot production in or before March 2016, hiring up to 4,000 workers initially and expanding to 15,000 in three years.

The two companies will invest $200 million in the project over the next three-to-five years.

Wistron’s has also shared its notebook shipment figures, which rose 12% MoM in November to 1.8 million units – but its Q4 shipments are forecast to be down as much as 5% QoQ. Non-notebook shipments were mostly flat.
