Volfoni, a European provider of 3D technology, has announced the launch of its counterclaim to the intellectual property lawsuit filed by RealD in Germany. IP law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP will represent Volfoni during the legal proceedings.
Volfoni has developed a legal strategy in response to the complaint raised by RealD in its lawsuit against Volfoni and CinemaNext in Düsseldorf, Germany. RealD alleged infringement of three patents by Volfoni’s high-performance SmartCrystal Diamond 3D cinema system. In Volfoni’s counterclaim, the company has provided arguments based on non-infringement and invalidity to be used to defend its technology. The case is being adjudicated in the Regional Court of Düsseldorf. Volfoni will soon publish a whitepaper summarising the state of the case and the company’s legal strategy in English.
