ViXS Sells MoCA Business to MaxLinear

ViXS Systems has announced that it has sold its Multimedia over Coaxial Alliance (MoCA) business to MaxLinear for $5 million. This will allow ViXS to focus on its core video business built around delivering UHD/HDR solutions for the consumer and video delivery market segments.

As a result of this transaction, VXS will be exiting the MoCA market where it was in competition with the likes of Broadcom and ST-Micro Systems. As part of this exit strategy, ViXS also recently closed its Austin, Texas office that had been primarily focused on MoCA and networking chips.

ViXS recently announced a UHD/BD product with Sharp, and has an increasing OTA customer base, as well as producing new designs for UHD/HDR decoder and transcoder products.
