V-Nova Ltd., a leading provider of video compression solutions, has announced that Sky in Italy’s Full HD IPTV platform, powered by V-Nova PERSEUS™, has won the 2016 NewBay Media NAB Best of Show Award. The award-winning service was demonstrated for the first time at NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 18-21, proving the ground-breaking commercial benefits of V-Nova PERSEUS, just one year after launch.
Sky in Italy upgraded its Full HD IPTV platform to provide the premium quality of experience its customers are accustomed to, at half the bandwidth. The result is a massive increase in service reach and a reduction in operating costs. Sky in Italy was able to achieve this result in the most seamless and cost-effective way, by integrating V-Nova PERSEUS SDK with Harmonic’s ViBE VS7000 video encoders in its head-end, and on the installed base of Sky Set-top Boxes through an over-the-air update.

V-Nova PERSEUS™ is a video processing technology that addresses today’s video delivery challenges, closing the capacity gap for quality delivery to connected devices over existing networks. V-Nova PERSEUS redraws the traditional quality-bitrate curve, enabling operators and service providers to provide high quality video (both linear and non-linear) within their bandwidth constraints.
