iPhone display panel suppliers TPK and General Interface Solution (GIS) have announced their respective predictions for the second quarter of 2018. According to Digitimes, TPK has predicted operating losses, while GIS is expecting to see a 10% increase in revenue compared to the first quarter of the year.
TPK has dedicated 80% of its current capacity to OLED panels for the iPhone X, which is still experiencing lower-than-expected sales. As a result, the company has predicted a 20% decline in revenue during the second quarter.
Meanwhile, GIS is supplying Apple with LCD screens for the iPhone 7 and 8, which are currently performing a lot better than their OLED successor. The company reported consolidated revenues of NT$739 million ($24.9 million) last month, a growth of 11.9% month-on-month and its third consecutive month of positive revenue growth. The company has predicted a shipment growth of 20% in the second quarter.
Going forward, the two companies will take a more even share of panel production across the range of iPhone devices. Both expect their revenues to pick up significantly in the second half of the year, as production ramps up for the next wave of iPhone products. (More Confirmation of iPhone Plans)
