uBeam Secures $10 Million Funding

Los Angeles-based start-up uBeam, has secured $10 million in Series A funding to take its wireless charging system to market.

The technology has been in development for three years by company founder, Meredith Perry, and was first made public in August this year (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 31). Perry says that there is still development work to be done but that the latest injection of funds will help to make it “a real product with real backing”.

The Series A funding has been led by Upfront Ventures and included participation from earlier investors in uBeam, entrepreneurs Mark Cuban and Andreessen Horowitz.
