Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) and United Microelectronics (UMC) both reported sequential and year on year increases in sales last month, though Mediatek fared less well as sales fell month on month and YoY.
TSMC achieved a 4.2% MoM and 21.7% YoY increase in sales last month to NT$75.3 billion ($2.4 billion), bringing sales so far this year to NT$297.3 billion ($9.7 billion), 41.5% higher than the same period of last year.
UMC also had a good month posting a record-high in sales of NT$13 billion ($426 million) representing a 2.4% increase from March and 12.9% up on April 2014. The company’s year to date sales totaled NT$50.7 billion ($1.6 billion), up 17.2% compared with the same time last year.
Mediatek, by contrast, saw sales decline 26% sequentially and 20.8% YoY to NT$15.1 billion ($494.8 million), while cumulative sales for the year so far were down 3.8% at NT$62.6 billion ($2 billion).
