Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) reported consolidated revenues of NT$85.9 billion ($2.8 billion) for March 2017, which was an increase of 20.2% on a monthly basis and 17.5% on a yearly basis. The FY17 Q1 revenues amounted to NT$233.9 billion ($7.6 million), which was below the company’s earlier guidance range of NT$236-239 billion ($7.7-7.8 million) primarily due to the higher-than-expected appreciation of the NT$ against the $.
During the same quarter, TSMC’s competitors like United Microelectronics (UMC) and Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) managed to meet their revenue guidance. UMC posted revenue of NT$37.4 billion ($1.2 billion) while VIS recorded revenue of NT$0.2 billion.
