Toshiba Challenges With Surface

Toshiba is the newest contender to enter the large tablet space, showing off the Dynapad at an event in Japan. It is available to pre-order there now, and is due to be released in the EU and USA in Q1 next year.

The Dynapad has a 12″ display with 1920 x 1200 resolution, using an IPS panel. A dual-layer anti-reflection and -fingerprint coating is installed.

Like other large tablets, the Dynapad is a convertible unit, with a keyboard to boost productivity. A Wacom stylus can be used with the unit, which has 2,048 levels of pressure. To enable the stylus, the Dynapad uses metal mesh sensor technology.

Various Toshiba apps are pre-installed: TruNote, TryCapture, TruRecorder and more. The software integrates with Microsoft Office, and adapts for right- or left-handed people.

Toshiba claims that the tablet, weighing 570g without the keyboard, is the lightest in its size class. It is 6.9mm thick. More details will be released closer to its launch date.
