Three New Fabs for Foxconn

Sources from Asia claim that Foxconn is to establish a G6 LTPS TFT-LCD panel fab in Guiyang City, China. The fab will mainly be used to produce 5.2″, 5.5″ and 6″ panels for smartphones. Investment is planned to be CNY30 billion ($4.6 billion). The fab is owned by Century Technology (a joint venture between the Shenzen government and Foxconn) and a foundation of the Guiyang City government. Monthly capacity is about 40,000 substrates. Construction was scheduled to begin in December 2015, with production beginning December 2017; however, construction has been delayed.

Foxconn is also said to be establishing a G6 LTPS fab in southern Taiwan with Innolux, and another in Chengzhou City in northern China. These plants are scheduled to begin mass production in the first half of 2016 and in 2018, respectively.
