With the release of iOS 11, Apple has extended the range of the iPhone’s near-field communication capabilities. A platform previously reserved for Apple Pay, near-field communication can now be used to deliver digital experiences via NFC tags.
Users can download the Thinfilm scanner app from the iTunes App Store. Once the app is active, users can tap their device against an NFC-enabled product and receive relevant mobile web content. Brands with their own iOS app can also incorporate the Thinfilm software to deliver their own digital customer experience via NFC.
