The World’s Leading Event for Electronic Display Innovation, Display Week 2018, May 20-25, Announces Automotive Display Market Focus Conference

Building on the first successful conference in 2017, the Society for Information Display (SID) and Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) announced the second Automotive Display Market Focus Conference.

The conference will be offered during SID’s Display Week – running this year from May 21-26 at the Los Angeles Convention Center – and will explore the business and market issues associated with one of the most dynamic sectors in the display industry.

According to a published report, Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research projects that by 2025, global auto sales volume will reach 120 million-creating a massive opportunity for multiple displays to be integrated into cars. DSCC further anticipates that the market for automotive display systems specifically will grow at double-digit rates from 2015-2025, reaching approximately $15 billion by 2025. Many of these systems will be built using liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and organic LED (OLED) displays, in shapes and forms never before seen by the industry.

Set for Tuesday, May 22, as part of the popular Display Week Business Track, the Automotive Display Market Focus Conference will look at the opportunities associated with a range of current and emerging vehicle technologies. For example, carmakers are seeking larger displays to help support infotainment, safety, internal vehicle systems and other functions. This includes curved screens, which will allow a better, less distracting viewing angle. Head-up display (HUD) technologies are being deployed for HD mapping and monitoring with augmented reality (AR) features, while interactive touch displays are replacing buttons and switches. All of this, and more, is creating an exciting landscape that experts from automotive OEMs, materials and display firms will delve into.

“There are automotive conferences and display conferences, but no other conference addresses these two markets in one focused event,” said SID Chair of Marketing, Sri Peruvemba. “Display professionals will hear from leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers on the success drivers and market demands in the automotive space. Those in the automotive industry will hear from leading display makers and materials companies regarding new technology developments that can enable additional automobile functionality. We’re excited to enable this unique event.”

DSCC Co-Founder and President Bob O’Brien noted, “We are pleased to work with SID to bring the Automotive Display Market Focus Conference to Display Week 2018. Automotive displays are one of the fastest growing and most profitable sectors in the display industry, and the stringent demands of the automotive application, combined with the opportunities for differentiation, make this sector an attractive target for companies in the display industry. Our program this year will be highly valuable to attendees seeking to leverage the many market and business opportunities presented by the automotive display industry.”

The conference will include speakers from well-known companies from the automotive and display industries, including General Motors, LG Displays, Pioneer Automotive, and Texas Instruments, and will include insights from new entrants with innovative technologies, including IRYStec, Lumint, and Envisics. Industry analysts from JD Power, Strategy Analytics, and Roland Berger will also weigh in on a range of topics, including flat-panel displays, touch panels and HUDs – all areas of particular interest for conference-goers.
