Teens Are Turning Their Backs on TV

Nielsen has found that young Americans are watching less and less TV. OTT portals, such as Netflix and Hulu, are putting traditional TV under pressure. It is still the most popular medium, but may not hold its place at the top for much longer.

Since Q1’11, the average time spent watching traditional TV by young (12-17 years old) has fallen by more than 25%. In Q1’15, this group spent an average of 17 hours and 52 minutes a week watching live TV – down from more than 24 hours five years ago.
