TCO Certified has announced a new webinar called “Conflicts and violence when smartphones are manufactured” to take place on June 13th, with one session at 9 am CET and another at 5 pm CET.
The company writes, “Did you know that smartphones are connected to conflicts and violence because of minerals such as tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold? These minerals are often called conflict minerals since they are mined in conflict-affected areas where human rights abuses are common”.
Webinar attendees will learn more about minerals, how they’re extracted and in what ways the profit from mineral sales contribute to conflicts, as well as legislation and how different global initiatives may help solve these issues.
