Taiwanese Makers Suffer Monthly and Annual Losses

AUO‘s unaudited consolidated revenue fell 7.1% MoM and 21.1% YoY in October, to NT$29.2 billion ($893,000). Shipments of large-size panels reached almost 8.9 million units (down 6.9% MoM) and small- to medium-size shipments fell 25.8% to just under 10.7 million units.

The company is pushing embedded touch panels for notebooks and FIM products for TVs, which combine high-end features such as a curved design, UltraHD resolution and quantum dots. Next year, AUO says that it plans to focus on technology integration, to lower customer costs and logistics.

Foxconn (Hon Hai) reported consolidated revenues of NT$503 billion ($15.3 billion): a 9.1% increase MoM and 7.2% YoY. The company’s year-to-date revenues were NT$3.6 trillion ($109.8 billion), an 11.8% increase YoY.

Revenues for Innolux fell 5.5% MoM and 22.7% YoY, to NT$29.6 billion ($905 million). Shipments of large-sized products were down 7.2% MoM (to 10.2 million), while small- and medium-size shipments fell 2.1%, to 21.7 million units.
