According to Digitimes Research, shipments of LCD TVs from Taiwan-based makers rose to 7.65 million units in the second quarter of 2018, a quarter-on-quarter growth of 15.9%.
Analysts predict that shipments in the second half of the year will record flat growth from the same period in 2017, with quarterly shipments of over 9 million units and total shipments of 33 million units in 2018.
Digitimes highlights a resurgence of demand for Taiwan-made TVs from the North America, which is predicted to continue growing in the second half of the year, as are shipments to Europe. In the second quarter, Japan saw the largest share of Taiwan’s exports.
In terms of individual manufacturers, TPV Technology and Foxconn were the top-two TV makers in the country. However, their combined market share dropped below 80% during the second quarter. Amtran and Compal Electronics rounded out the top-four.
