Stretched Displays Are for Specific Applications

Two bar-type signage displays from BenQ, which were introduced at Infocomm 2014 (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 20), are now available in the USA.

The BH280 and BH380 are professional displays, with a 50,000-hour lifetime. They can be used in landscape or portrait modes, with solid fixing points attaching the panel to the (metal) chassis along every edge; this design is intended to prevent mura distortion.

Both screens feature an ambient light sensor. They reach 700 cd/m² (BH280) or 800 cd/m² (BH380) of brightness. They can show 8-bit colour and have 178 deg viewing angles and a 60Hz response time. They also share DVI and VGA inputs.

The BH280 is a 28″ unit, with 1920 x 358 resolution (16:3); a 3,000:1 contrast ratio; 6.5ms response time; and 72% NTSC gamut coverage. The 38″ BH380, though, has 1920 x 538 resolution (32:9); a 4,000:1 contrast ratio; 9ms response time; and 68% NTSC gamut coverage.

Available in the USA now, BenQ will launch its bar-type signage displays in Europe next year. Pricing will be set closer to the time.
