SMI Tracks at 120Hz

Sensomotoric Instruments (SMI) has upgraded its eye-tracking AR glasses, to track eyes at 120Hz. The new glasses also offer more precise event detection and low latency network time synchronisation.

SMI has said that the 120Hz rate is particularly important as it allows the tracking of the saccade movements of the eye, and thus allowing the development of foveated rendering – using the information about where the user is looking to calculate where to apply processing power, and where not to bother with high detail.
