China’s Silead has informed Digitimes that it has begun developing a new under-display fingerprint sensor. The new module is based on the company’s MEMS-CMOS platform and uses piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers. The company expects to commence volume production of these new sensors in early 2019.
Vivo’s X20 Plus handset was the first to feature an under-display fingerprint sensor.
