Committed to its mission of becoming a “smart city”, Shenzhen, China’s Longgang district is home to the city’s “smart city brain”, the Longgang Operation Centre, featuring what provider Absen claims to be the world’s largest narrow pixel-pitch LED display system. The display is used as a city control room.
Composed of 798 panels with a curve of 37.1 metres in radius, this 166.9m² 1.2mm pixel-pitch screen is 25.6m by 6.5m and contains 103 million pixels. 181 signals are received and displayed through 105 windows at 720p, 40 at 1080p or 10 at Ultra HD resolution.
Each panel is equipped with two power banks and two receiving cards, so the power and signal can be switched to the backup set whenever needed, avoiding downtime.
