Sharp Corp. reported Q2 net profit of only JP¥ 3.5 billion ($29 million), a steep decline of nearly 86% YoY. For the 6 month period, the company registered a net loss of JP¥83.6 billion An increasingly loss-making display business was responsible, with 2 bailouts already in its wake. Pressure due to declining smartphone display demand was held particularly responsible.
